En el marco de la Red, fue Co-Fundadora de la institución. Escribió junto a Carlos Motta la Presentación de We Who Feel Differently. Es co-editora de Gender and Sexuality in Latin America - Cases and Decisions, Más alla del Derecho, La Mirada de los Jueces: Género en la jurisprudencia latinoamericana y La Mirada de los Jueces: Diversidades sexuales en la jurisprudencia latinoamericana.
Abogada por la Facultad de Derecho - Uniandes. Especialización en Ciencia Política en la Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas y Máster en Derecho (LL.M.) por Harvard Law School.
Ha sido Profesora e Investigadora en temas de justicia y género tanto en Colombia como en Argentina en la Facultad de Derecho - Uniandes, Universidad Nacional de Colombia y de Universidad de San Andrés. En 2012 hizo su transición al cine y desde entonces ha producido y dirigido documentales. Hoy es directora de cine adscrita al colectivo Gallito Films (gallitofilms.com) y curadora de La imagen justa (laimagenjusta.com).
Es experta en cine, sexualidades diversas, feminismo, instituciones democráticas.
Algunos de los cursos que ha dictado son: Introducción al derecho, Teoría del derecho, Ética.
Durante su trayectoria, pueden encontrarse los siguientes reconocimientos: el cortometraje '1982' obtuvo el premio al mejor documental del Festival de Trípoli en 2015. El cortometraje 'Volverse aire', fue el Mejor Corto Latinoamericano del Festival Curta Kinoforum de San Pablo, en 2018. El proyecto 'Desde el río' recibió el premio Artistic Responses to Environmetal Change del Prince Claus-Goethe Institut en 2020. Su película 'Superficies', se estrenó en Visions du Reél en 2021 y obtuvo la mención de honor en el Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de Buenos Aires, FIDBA, ganó el premio al mejor cortometraje argentino otorgado por la Red argentina de festivales y muestras audiovisuales en el mismo festival y ganó el premio al mejor cortometraje del festival Signos da Noite, Lisboa 2021.
Fue la impulsora de la primera concentración en teoría jurídica en la Universidad de los Andes y fundadora de la colección editorial Nuevo Pensamiento Jurídico. Como directora del Centro de Investigaciones Sociojurídicas -Cijus-, inició la línea de investigación en justicia y género. En la Universidad de San Andrés hizo parte del grupo que diseñó la carrera de derecho en la cual la perspectiva de género tendría una presencia transversal. Fue co-Fundadora de la Red Alas y de ELA - Equipo Latinoamericano de Justicia y Género. Como cineasta, en todas sus películas aborda el tema de la justicia o la violencia de género. Cuenta con varias publicaciones, libros y películas.
Translated and updated from the seminal Spanish text on legal decisions affecting gender and sexuality in Latin America, this English edition is the only law text to focus specifically on the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and the transgender population in addition to women’s rights more broadly. The volume provides close analysis of some of the most important decisions made by Latin American national courts, as well as those made by international legal bodies, that affect the rights and interests of these groups. Specially selected for their depth of argument and value as exemplars, the studies of good legal practice chart the path of the region’s normative values of justice as they have evolved away from a partial, and patriarchal, exercise of the law. We Who Feel Differently is a database documentary that addresses critical issues of contemporary queer culture. It features Interviews with fifty queer academicians, activists, artists, radicals, researchers, and others in Colombia, Norway, South Korea and the United States about the histories and development of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTIQQ) politics.
The project discusses the notions of sexual difference, equality, citizenship and democracy in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity. This Book outlines five thematic threads drawn from the interviews in the form of a narrative. The project also presents an online Journal (www.wewhofeeldifferently.info/journal.php), a sporadic publication that presents in depth analyses and critiques of LGBTIQQ politics from queer perspectives.
